FAQ

Why does this data look so terrible/wierd?

Some of the data in the archive is fairly old and so may show instrumental limitations. This is particularly true for millisecond pulsars in the pre-2000 era. All data are provided as-is, there is no guarantee on the quality or validity of any data. Your best friend is the link to the publication describing the observations, this should indicate any limitations you are likely to find

Why can't I use these data for pulsar timing?

These observations are provided to study pulse shapes and whilst we have not interfered with the timing information in any way, it is quite likely that they have uncorrected timing errors that will make it difficult to perform any timing. It is also possible that the profiles presented represent multiple epochs of data that have been averaged together, and may have been arbitrarily rotated in phase to achive this.
